Course Title: Competitive shooting for Law Enforcement and instructor development
Where do today’s top military and LE units go for firearms training? They go to the competition shooters. Competition shooters understand the importance of speed & accuracy & how to continuously balance the two. LE firearms training shares many of the same goals as the competition shooter which takes LE Firearms Training to the Next Level.
Shooters new to competition can often be overwhelmed with competition rules and philosophies. This course will provide the shooters with a chance to experience several different types of shooting competition stages. Then, we will discuss how to integrate competition concepts & techniques directly into LE training to move your agency’s training to the next level. Traditional firearms training is great for the new shooter but is not adequate for the development of high-level firearms skills. This course is a blend of lots of shooting stages for the student, discussion, development, & implementation of new techniques, and a close look at the pros and cons of traditional techniques.
Students must be highly proficient with safely shooting, gun handling, and moving around in the range with their unholstered pistol. After some training, students will be expected to run & score other shooter’s targets as part of the learning process.
*You do not need to be an instructor to attend this class, but it is encouraged. Please come with a strong desire to understand how to learn/teach shooting skills

Course Title: The VirTra Red Dot Transition and Sustainment Program
The VirTra Red Dot Transition and Sustainment program was written in conjunction with Matt Jacques from Victory First. It is designed to take officers with little to no experience with the pistol mounted red dot optic and equip them with the necessary skills to successfully transition from traditional Iron sights to a pistol mounted red dot optic. The course will be conducted in the VirTra simulator and on a live fire range. Additionally, the course provides sustainment material to help officers to continue building the skill set necessary for proper presentation of the pistol.
The sustainment package was designed to give officers specific drills that can be conducted in the simulator pre or post daily briefings or as a supplement to range qualification days. It takes an in depth look at some the more popular red dot optics on the market today but is not intended as an all-encompassing recommendation as to what optics to choose or avoid. Please refer to your agency’s Authorized Equipment List for guidance on choosing a red dot optic for use on your service pistol.
The course is certified by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) and meets POST requirements in 38 States. It contains a pre-test, lecture post-test and range drills and exemplifies VirTra’s dedication to our Teach, Train, Test, Sustain philosophy.
Equipment requirements:
